Dilg, founder of the Izaak Walton League of Amer- ica, was noted in the papers last week. Back of this lies the story of a great ideal brought to the public's attention but a few years ago and that devel- oped almost overnight into a powerful organization, nation-wide in scope, and surprising in the constructive work that it has already accomplished. Dilg, an advertising man, with a keen sense of the dramatic, with an unbounded enthusiasm, and a supreme belief in the idea, found a ready re- sponse in every part of the country, from men who loved the woods, men who loved the waters, men who loved the mountains, or the valleys, men who loved the wild life found therein, and he welded these into a national organi- zation having local chapters running into the thousands, and an individual membership counted by the hundreds of thousands. One of the leagues' accomplishments is the "Wild Game Refuge" bordering the Mississippi river and touching three states. It has been suggested that Will Dilg's final resting place be on one of the high hills looking out over the river and this Game Refuge. It would seem that a fitting memorial there, to the man, and the ideal, would become a shrine to all lovers of this fair country our ours. Dennis of the North- western School of Speech won the sil- ver loving cup in the Rotarian contest for choosing the best Chicago suburb, at the Hotel Sherman Tuesday. The judges held that Dean Dennis, speak- ing for Evanston in behalf of Evans- ton Rotary, had proved his home town superior to its rivals.
