Hawxhurst was nominated for the presidency of the Kenilworth Village board; Alexander M. Love- dale, Harold O. Barnes, Leslie McAr- thur and Arthur B. Adair for trustees, and George IL. Rothermel, for the po- sition of police magistrate at a caucus held Sunday, April 3, at the home of Frank R. Young, 333 Cumnor road. Petitions were filed with the Village Clerk Monday. Inasmuch as Monday was the last day for the filing of peti- tions and no other petitions had been filed at the time for closing the office, the Citizens' party will encounter no opposition at the polls on April 19. Mr. Hawxhurst is at present a mem- ber of the Village board and is resign- ing to accept the nomination for presi- dent. He is succeeding James C. Mur- ray who has been actively associated with Kenilworth village administraton affairs for eight years, six of them in the capacty of president and two as a trustee. Mr. Adair was nominated to fill out the remaining year of Mr. Hawxhurst's term, while the other candidates will fill the vacancies caused by the expiration of the terms of Charles D. Howe, board member for the past six years; Ira C. Darling, trustee for two terms, and E. M. Sweet, also a trustee for two terms. Both the retiring trustees and Presi- dent Murray declined to become candi- dates for reelection. Population Is Doubled Since the inception of President Murray's administration, Kenilworth has almest doubled its population. When he was first elected to the presi- dency the population was 1,188, while at the present time it exceeds 2,200. The west side of the village had been annexed while he was serving as trus- tee and the improvement of the new territory has been accomplished during the six years of his administration. The installation of a complete lighting system throughout the village has also been pushed during this period, as have also the inauguration of the city plan and zoning ordinances.
