April 23, 1927 WINNETKA TALK 25 ~~ White Elephant Sale Both Clearing House and Treasure Trove The "white elephants" that are being turned out of Winnetka households to increase daily the collection at Com- munity House, Winnetka, are going to prove a treasure cache for the right buyers at the Community exchange or White Elephant sale to be held there May 4 and 5. The sale is for the benefit of the Winnetka Congregation- al new church building fund. A piece of furnishing of the wrong color or period or a nice dress that - never did just fit right may be pounced i on with avidity by the next person. Everyone will find something to suit him at the sale. Everyone interested is urged both 'to contribute articles ad to come and buy. The hours for | Wednesday are 1 o'clock in the after- { noon to 9 o'clock, and for Thursday, 9 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon. Mrs. Ayres Boal is general chairman of the sale. Anyone with things to contribute can I~ call Community House, Winnetka 533. y Chrysler Totals 60,000 Miles After Speeders Traveling between San Francisco and San Diego in the interest of a local stage company is a Chrysler "70" phaeton that has upward of 60,000 miles on its speedometer, Its owner is Ray Olds, who travels for the stage company now, but most of the mileage was registered chasing speeders in Ventura county, down Los Angeles way, for Olds was formerly| ! a state speed officer. | About a year ago Chrysler represent- | | atives sent out letters to a large num- ber of California police who had bought Chrysler cars for use in their traffic duties and asked how their cars were performing.
