A graduate of Northwestern univer- sity, where he received his B. A. de- gree, Mr. Lawrence has achieved con- siderable prominence in western mu- sical circles and, although he has been performing in theaters but a short time, he is said to be one of the highest salaried cinema organists in this section. He has been featured in some of Chicago's largest picture houses. Lawrence, it is said, plays the class- ical and popular music with equal facility. He has made a long and in- tensive study of synchronizing music with photoplays and has become par- ticularly adept in this respect. He spends hours scoring each picture and as a result his efforts greatly enhance the entertainment value of the photo- plays he accompanies. "Every picture," says Mr. Law- rence, "requires a distinct musical in- terpretation of its own. Every picture has its own 'atmosphere' and this I strive to emphasize in my accompani- ments in order to make the effect as authentic as possible. That is why I study each picture individually. Tt is my aim to make music not an inci- dent to a picture, but a complement to it, an integral part of the motif portrayed on the screen." The large storage tank for this oil is underground on the theater premises, and has a capacity of one- half car load, assuring a supply of fuel oil at all times, for the comfort of the theater patrons. Braun Brothers Oil company's tanks are located on Willow street at the Wau Bun station of the Chicago and Northwestern railroad, where, about two years ago, they erected numerous large tanks having a total capacity of 154,000 gallons, from which to supply their north shore patronage. LaSalle St. Main 0250 Trains of Raw Material Needed for New Theater The magic-like speed with which Teatro del Lago, the new theater in "No Man's Land," has risen, becomes more impressive when one con- siders the materials used in the struc- ture as measured in carload lots. The materials for the building, except lum- ber and tile, for the most part, were supplied by the Central Coal and Ma- terial company, of 1711 Church street, Evanston, and Dundee road, Glencoe. This company delivered 220 cars of these materials, including 120 carloads of sand and gravel; 5,000 barrels, or twenty carloads of cement; 700 bar- rels or three carloads of lime; thirty loads of cinders; two carloads of flue linings and five carloads of plaster. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Andrew Day have moved into their new home at 420 South avenue, Glencoe.
