May 7, 1927 WINNETKA TALK 13 Legion Post Adds More Memberships to Growing Roster At last Monday's meeting Winnetka Post No. 10, held its second initiation ceremony of the year. Ten enrolled, bringing the post membership to 190. Vice-commander E. G. Howell, the post's "Go-getter" membership chair- man, feels confident that the two hun- dred mark will be reached before Memorial day, and that 1927 will show the largest membership in the history of the organization. Following adjournment of the meet- ing the members enjoyed three reels of films depicting the American ILe- gion Orphan's home; the Philadelphia convention, and the story of the ILe- gion, entitled, "Carrying On." Elmer E. Adams has issued a call for more volunteers for the Drum Corps. Practice sessions are held in the Legion room at 7:30 o'clock on meeting nights and also at the same hour on the second and fourth Thurs- day evenings of each month. Past Commander J. M. Dickinson, Jr., with an able committee is arrang- ing plans for Memorial day observ- ances, to be held Monday afternoon, May 30, on the Village commons, de- tailed plans for which will be pub- lished later. American Legion, new members were Two Cars Damaged in Crash Sunday Morning Two cars were damaged but no one was injured in an automobile accident which occurred Sunday morning at 10 o'clock at Foxdale avenue and Eldo:- ado street, Winnetka, when a machine driven by Mrs. Berhna Davy, of 427 Ninth street, Wilmette, crashed into a car driven by D. J. Gillespie, of 781 Locust road, Winnetka. Mr. Gillespie was turning south on Foxdale, coming out of Eldorado from the west, when hit by Mrs. Davy in attempting to turn west on Eldorado coming from the north on Foxdale.
