-» ¥ 'N s 2 June 11, 1927 WINNETKA TALK 23 Madame Normelli in Musical, Luncheon | for Group of Pupils Madame Edith Bideau Normelli of Wilmette, soprano and teacher of voice, with studios in the Studio build- ing, Evanston, gave a morning musical Saturday at her studios, followed by a luncheon at the Georgian hotel. The luncheon was complimentary to her pupils who are graduating this spring from various colleges and high schools. On May 12 the last musical of the vear was given at the Evanston hotel before more than 100 guests when the following appeared on the program: Mrs. J. H. Allen, Mrs. Joseph I. Bottorf, and Miss Jean Wellegar, of Evanston; Miss Dixie Douglas of Winnetka: Mrs. M. Eagle and Mrs. Ruth Waller of Chicago. Madame Normelli closed the program with a group of songs, assisted by Mrs. How- ard Schroyed, accompanist. Madame Normelli will teach throughout the summer at her studio where she is now making enrollments for the new term. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Gedge of 1106 Elm street, who have been touring the Fast, expect to return to Winnetka early next week. They traveled through the Shenandoah Valley, and the Blue Ridge and Alleghany mountains. After visiting an aunt of Mr. Gedge, in Vir- | ginia, they went on to Washington and | New York. | $50,000,000 Involved in Unification of Church Property and investments aggregat- ing fifty millions are involved in the unification of congregational missions, home and foreign, accomplished at the biennial meeting of the National council of the Congregational churches in the United States, held in Omaha, Neb., May 25 to June 1. The total number of Congregational missionaries in this country and abroad are 2,500; in addition there are 5,750 natives employed in mission work abroad. The total annual budget is more than five million dollars. The unification, it is believed will promote economy and efficiency. Rev. Oscar E. Maurer, D. D., of New Haven, Conn., was elected chairman of the Commission on Missions. The secretary of the commission is Rev. Charles Emerson Burton, D.D., of New York City, the general secretary of the national Congregational coun- cil. Rev. Charles C. Merrill, D.D., of Chicago was elected secretary of pro- motion for the commission. The commission on missions has eighty-three members and includes the directors of the unified Home Boards and the directors of the foreign board which preserves its historic name of the American board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions.
