Women Will Vie With Rolling Pins at Picnic A ladies' rolling-pin contest, balloon blowing and numerous other games will be features of the annual picnic of the Automobile club of Illinois to be held at Wayside Inn, Morton Grove, Sunday, August 7. Provisions have been made to accommodate 40,000 mo- torists and their families. Everything will be free, including dancing, ice cream, cool drinks, games and favors for the kiddies. The larg- est prize list ever offered at any event of this kind, is promised by Si Mayer, president of the club. A ball game is scheduled between prominent business men of the city and members of the club. A general invitation is extended to all motorists of Chicago and vicinity to attend the outing. PRESENT THREE PLAYS "Poor Aubrey," "Find- ers-Keepers," and "The Flattering Word," were presented by the class in dramatics of the School of Speech, Northwestern university, at Annie May Swift hall Tuesday evening. This trio of plays, directed by Vance Mor- ton, are by George Kelly, author of "Craig's Wife," and "The Show-Off." "Poor Aubrey," a domestic comedy, "Finders-Keepers," a psychological study of a woman's idiosyncrasies, and "The Flattering Word," a satire, were ably presented by the summer school students. Three plays, Illinois ranks third among the states in the manufacture of beverages. A total of 267 plants employ 2,535 per- sons; salaries and wages, $3,985,000; value of products, $14,175,000 yearly. First and second places go to New York and Pennsylvania respectively.
