Peters' Market Meats of Quality Phones 920-21-22 734 Elm St. FIELD EVENTS PROVE CUSTOMARY THRILLER | Races and Coutests Attract Hun- dreds of Entrants on After- noon of Winnetka Day A program of twenty-five races, starting at 2 o'clock, featured the af- ternoon of Winnetka day, Thursday. The events were held on the athletic field west of Skokie school and at- tracted one of the largest crowds of any of the several sections of the day's festivities. Each of the races was well filled, there being as many as thirty entrants in some of them. W. M. Peterson, Winnetka Chief of Police, was the offi- ial starter, and various other mem- bers of the Winnetka Chamber of Commerce, sponsoring Winnetka day, conducted this section of the program. Prizes donated by Winnetka mer- chants, were awarded in each event. The several contests and the winners, given in the order of their standing in the prize awards follow: Events in Variety Boys' and girls' race (five years and bert Bruschini, Arthur Smith and under) 25 yards--Teddie Oelwine, Al- Marjorie Gerrard. Miss Virginia Berry of California, who lived in Winnetka about six years ago, left Saturday after visiting friends here. She spent the last week of her visit with Mrs. Buelah McLeod of 607 Willow road. The day before Miss Berry's departure, Mrs. McLeod enter- tained three tables at bridge in her honor. After leaving Winnetka, Miss Berry went to Towa, and from there she will go home to California. '.
