August 27, 1927 WINNETKA TALK 11 Name Subdivision in Glencoe After Dennis, Pioneer Charles M. Dennis, of 823 Greenleaf avenue, Glencoe, one of the earliest residents of the village and who has the distinction of pioneering also in the local business affairs of the village in that he conducted the first grocery store in Glencoe, is to be further honored by having the latest subdivi- sion there named for him. The Dennis subdivision is located on a new street, which also is to be known as Dennis lane. It is one block in length, extending from Greenbay road to Greenleaf avenue between Beach road and Lincoln drive. Here are located sixteen beautifully wooded lots, highly restricted as to their development and to be handled exclusively by the Glencoe office of McGuire & Orr, 316 Park avenue. The devlopment will also mark the passing of two old and picturesque landmarks, the old Dennis residence and the old Fanning homestead, which are to be razed to make room for the new modern homes which are soon to rise on these valuable sites. It is interesting to note that the old Fanning residence was erected by the first president of the Chicago & North- western railroad and he lived there many years. It is a frame building. The other is a brick residence and was the old Dennis property. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Vissering re- turned to their home at 257 Kenil- worth avenue last week, after a two weeks' absence from Kenilworth. They have been visiting their son, Norman Vissering, on his grove in Florida, near Babson Park. State Junior Girls singles champion, defeated Miss Barbara Holden, Ill. State Junior Girls doubles champion, 6-0, 6-1. Second Match--Singles--3:30 P. M. Final match, Men's singles, mid-sea- son tournament -- William G. Boyden, Jr., defeated Edmond Fulton, 6-2, 6-0. Third Matech--Mixed Doubles, 4:30 P. M. Miss Mabel Robinson and Edmond Fulton defeated Miss Barbara Holden and William C. Boyden, Jr. 11-9, 4-6, 6-3. These matches were played before the largest gallery of the season.
