Marinello Beauty Shop Phone Winnetka 822 Abatement Group to Hold Meeting on September 12 The meeting of the North Shore Mosquito Abatement association which is making progress in its work of preparing for a special election to authorize money necessary to carry on the work of exterminating the mos- quito on the north shore, will be held at the village hall in Wilmette, Mon- next day evening, September 12, at 8 o'clock. A meeting last week was held at the Village hall in Glencoe, where representatives from the various vil- lages in the district reported progress in the work of obtaining signatures to the necessary petitions for the special election. = Additional petitions were presented with completé quotas from the villages of Northbrook, Glencoe, Glenview and Kenilworth. Those who are circulating the peti- | tions in the other villages report pro- gress, and it is hoped all lists will have been completed by the time of the next meeting in Wilmette, on the eve- ning of September 12. A communication of much interest to those working in behalf of this movement was read from the director of the mosquito control of the Gorgas Memorial to the president thereof. MATCH AT WESTMORELAND The match to decide the Chicago woman's golf team championship will be played off next Monday at West- moreland club. Those competing will be the Evanston Golf club team, win- ner of the north shore championship; Westward Ho, west side champion, and Olympia Fields, winner of the south side title. Postmasters Attend Convention at Niagara Falls Postmasters, assistant postmasters and ex-postmasters will represent the north shore, where efficiency in this department of Uncle Sam's service is most highly developed, at the Postmas- ters' national convention at Niagara Falls, N. Y., September 15, 16 and 17. Here the north shore officials will meet their co-laborers in the work of handling the intricacies in connection with the mail service, and together with the heads of the various depart- ments from Washington will discuss ways and means, if any are conceived, by which the service may be improved. The postoffice department is one of the greatest business organizations on earth, and the speed and accuracy with which it functions is due to the un- ceasing efferts and co-operation of all its thousands of workers, which ex- tends from the highest official in the nation's capital down to the smallest hamlet in the most remote part of the nation. Postmaster Joseph E. Shantz, of Wilmette; Postmaster Joseph C. Braun, of Winnetka and Elmer E. Adams, former postmaster of the lat- ter village for many years, expect to leave Sunday to motor to the cenven- tion city. Glencoe will be represented by Mrs. Ellen Bremner, assistant postmistress in that village, who will spend a part of her annual fifteen day vacation there, and while in the east will visit New York City and other places of interest.
