Women visitors to our plant marvel at the simplicity of the equipment and methods. They leave ap- preciative of the fact that a laundry is more than 'a place where washing is done." We show visitors a laundry just as clean and tidy as their own; equipment built on the same principle as that built for the home; people working as they would expect them to work in their own home; and laundry finished just as though they themselves were supervising it. A simple policy built our business-- Quality Work day in and day out. One hundred fifty boys are expected to reg- ister for work at.the school building, which is just being finished at 350 Sherman avenue between St. Francis hospital and the "L" tracks. The Rev. Brother Elzear of the Christian Brothers is principal of the school. All those who will be admitted, this year are freshmen. The group will be divided into four sections with one teacher for each. "Red" Maher to Coach Physical training will be one of the features of the program. A director has been employed, William "Red" Maher, former Notre Dame star who played with the Four Horsemen. He will coach teams in football, basketball, baseball and track, entering a football team in the lightweight contests of high schools of this district this fall. A large gymnasium with a running track and swimming tank has been con- structed in the new building, and an athletic field has been provided to the south of the building. An electrical loud speaker has been installed, so that the principal may communicate with one or all of the class rooms at the same time and thus make his announcements without go- ing from room to room. Twenty-eight class rooms, science laboratories, shower baths, cafeteria and library are provided. The equip- ment in the laboratories differs from that in most high schools in that each student will have an individual hood and desk to work over when he is per- forming an experiment. These individ- ual equipments have been especially de- signed for the school by Brother John, a science instructor at De la Salle in- stitute. The teachers are using the south wing of the building for living quar- ters at present, but a residence capable of housing 400 teachers will be built on a lot northeast of the high school within the next five years. Though only 150 are being admitted this fall the building will finally ac- commodate 1,000 students, Board Members to Manage Smith College Club Ball Deciding this season to assume the management of the third annual Smith College club ball themselves, members of the executive board of the club have announced its date for Wednes- day, October 5.
