Prac. tical help is the best expression of friendship. The aid we may give in our abundance to those less fortunate should be of great value in bringing about the application of the Golden Rule to the settlement of misunder- standings among nations. I hope the voluntary observance of this day may become increasingly prevalent in Anierica and throughout the world." Not everyone can afford the high-priced property directly on the lake i oy day the younger generation are finding the beautiful Skokie Valley the solution of their homesite problem. Many par- ents are making the first payment on property for their married children so that they may have their children live near them. North Shore Line transportation via the Skokie Valley Route has made the Skokie Valley accessible as "the newer North Shore" community of homes! Frequent electrically-operated train service has brought this wonder home section vir- tually to the door of the Chicago Loop. Modern home conveniences are already available in many sections of the Skokie Valley --sewer, water, electricity, gas, telephone, paving. ; To the younger generation, especially, wishing to locate not far from "home," the Skokie Valley offers every advantage. * * * * The Skokie Valley Route of the North Shore Line parallels within two to five miles the very crest of the great continental water shed from which all waters flow either to the St. Lawrence, 1900 miles distant or to the Gulf of Mexico, 1625 miles away. LECTURES ON RELATIVITY The new world of space, time and matter was the subject of the lecture of W. Lee Lewis, professor of chem istry, Northwestern university, when he spoke before the Contemporary Thought classes on the Evanston and McKinlock campuses this week. High lights of the scientific thought of the day which he discussed included the doubt Einstein has cast upon such fundamental concepts as simultaneity the unity of time and the possibility of absolute motion; and the concep- tion of the electrons as the ultimate participle of that elusive form of energy which plays an increasingly important part in human life, namely. electricity. This was the second of the Con- temporary Thought lectures which are broadcast over WMAQ at 7 Wednes- day evenings. The first was given by Baker Brownell, professor of Con- temporary Thought and head of the newly organized department of Con temporary Thought. Throughout the year twenty-six experts in many fields of thought will speak in the course, which has as its subject matter the problems of people living in this new and changing universe and which will discuss the modern point of view in science, society, art, religion and philosophy.
