Higgins Teacher of Piano Residence EZ BH] Autumn Is Glorious In The New Mexico Rockies LOS SPLENDID saddle horse beneath you, threading his way up a rang- er's trail high in the pines and yellow aspens; the air crisp and tangy with the smell of purple sage; ahead a tremendous vista of mountain and mesa, sweeping off to ranges violet in the distance -- and waiting for you the cozy open fires of Los Cerros--what a glorious vacation in New Mexico! Hacienda de Los Cer- ros was once a Spanish rancho, now a comfortable mountain resort 7,000 ft. above the sea. Wanner returned this week from their honeymoon, a motor trip in the South, and they will be at home to their friends after November 15, in their new house at 221 Lockabie street, Wilmette. Before her marriage on October 15, Mrs. Wanner was Miss Florence Gathercoal, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gathercoal of Wil- mette. Four or five hundred dads will be on hand Saturday, Dads' day, to see the Purple clash with the Missouri Tigers, last year's title holders in the Missouri Valley conference. In addi- tion, 1,000 Armour Tech students are to be in the stands to help cheer for their foster alma mater. School Registrar Proves Math Real Aid in Chef's Job The male members 6f the New Trier High school faculty sniff with disdain at any intimation that they attended with apprehension the stag dinner- bridge, arranged for their club by W. A. Snyder, club president, last Tues- day night. Not that either bridge or dinner would be anything to view with alarm had it not previously been an- nounced that Wesley L. Brown, regis- trar of the school, was to be chef and supervise the cooking and serving of the meal. But, with this announcement, there immediately arose the question of what has a mathematician to do with a kitchen, and it is rumored that sev- eral members were unable to enjoy the meal to the fullest extent because of previous dinners indulged in at home. It is also reported that others had made reservations for a late hour lunch at an Evanston hotel and were thus guarding against any possible miscalculation of the cooks. Such rumors evidently proved some- what irritating to Mr. Brown and his staff, for, with the final and last call to the dinner table, punctuated with remarks that were neither apropos nor considerate of the feelings of the un- willing "roix du cuisine," the "doubt- ing Thomases" discovered that they were facing the last word in tender- loin steaks that were tender, the best in baked potatoes and the latest in creamed caulifiower--all surmounted with the things that should adorn the best of regulated meals. (The in- formants were rather vague about what these should be called.) Tt is also reported that shortly after dessert there was a general rush toward the elephone and a hasty cancellation of a! standing orders at hotels and cafes. In the bridge tournament that fol- lowed, Mr. Snyder outclassed all other members of the faculty and earned a clear title to the prize. W. J. Aschen- bach, varsity football coach, learned when it was too late to withdraw, that his favorite rabbit's foot was in his other clothes and accepted the "booby prize."
