November 5, 1927 WINNETKA TALK CENTRAL COMMITTEE IS NEW WINNETKA VENTURE Groups Interested in Education| Combine Resources for Con- certed Effort A new Central committee has been formed, whose function will concern everyone in Winnetka who is interest- ed in education. This committee is composed, of one representative from each of the public schools, one from New Trier High school, one from North Shore Country Day school, and one from the Winnetka Woman's club. Each delegate is the chairman of the Parent-Teacher association, or the dean of the school, or the chairman of education, in -each school or organiza- | tion represented. C,, with James Ford in charge as execu- tive director. 3etter Homes in America was estab- lished to provide local communities | with informaton as to the ways of im- | proving housing conditions and home | life, the work being carried on in communities through volunteer com- mittees of local citizens. The cam- | paign is sponsored locally by such or- | ganizations as Parent-Teacher asso- | ciations, women's clubs, civic associa- | tions and others having an interest in | home improvement. | JOINT ROTARY MEETING The Winnetka and Wilmette Rotary clubs are to hold an inter-club meeting Thursday evening, December 1, at New Trier High school. Dinner in the Mess hall of the school will be fol- lowed by a program staged by the physical education department at the school. The Winnetka fire department was called to the Aitken building in Hub- bard Woods, Wednesday evening at 9:30 o'clock, by a fire resulting from a leak in the oil burner.
