8 November 26, 1927 "WINNETKA TALK 13 CHICAGO ODD FELLOWS GUESTS IN WILMETTE Three Links Lodge Confers De- grees on Large Class of Candi- | dates at Sherman Lodge By A. H. H. Three Links Lodge No. 812, I. O. O. F., of 3207 Broadway, Chicago, came to Wilmette over sixty strong last week Thursday and conferred the first de- | gree on a class of candidates at A. T. | Sherman lodge No. 892, I. O. O. F,, in| the assembly hall of the Odd Fellows building, at 1217 Wilmette avenue. A crowd of about 300 Odd Fellows | from lodges all along the north shore, and points beyond, witnessed that night | as wonderful an exemplification of the | Degree of Friendship as they have ever | had the privilege and pleasure of see- | ing. The work was conferred by a staff of thirty-five proficient members of Three Links Lodge, thoroughly adept in every part. The charges were delivered in an effective and impressive manner and were given letter-perfect. The dramatic work was skilfully and expertly performed, and the floor-work | by the sixteen members of the drill team was a revelation of military pre- cision. The rousing applause accorded the staff upon the completion of its work expressed the appreciation and approval of the large audience. The degree was conferred on six candidates of A. T. Sherman lodge and on four candidates of Rogers Park lodge No. 562. Fourteen lodges were reresented at the meeting. There were seven members present who had been Odd Fellows for twenty-five years or more. After the completion of the degree, speeches became the order of the eve- ning. The district deputy, the noble grands, and some of the vice grands, | the Three Links degree captain, and al number of other visiting members were | called on, and all responded with ap- | propriate talks. After the close of the | meeting, refreshments of roast beef) sandwiches and coffee were served in| the lodge hall. Plan Trip to Antioch A. T. Sherman lodge is planning to go to Antioch in a special chartered bus--maybe two busses--on Thursday, December 8, to pay Lake lodge No. 723 a fraternal visit. The bus (or busses) will leave the lodge hall at 7 p. m. sharp, after a short lodge session is held, which is to be called at 6:30 p. m. A large number of members have ex- pressed their intentions of making this forty mile trip, and it is expected that there will be a lively, interesting, and entertaining rally of the I. O. O. F. when A. T. Sherman lodge arrives at Antioch that night. Members from several other lodges have declared their desire to drive to Antioch on the eve- ning of December 8. So it is an- ticipated that this will be the largest "get together" meeting held this sea- son. All members who wish to go are requested to make their reservations by next Thursday evening. Next Thursday there is to be election of officers for the ensuing term, which begins with the first meeting in January. Wilevansbrook Encampment No. 177, I. O. O.
