The Sanitary Meat Market EE ------ | 734 Elm Street Meats of Quality Phones 920-21-22 TO ERECT NEW BUSINESS BLOCK IN HUBBARD WOODS Will Begin Work on Three Story Store and Apartment Build- ing About December 1 The first steps towards the develop- ment of the triangular corner at Lin- den avenue and Tower road, Hubbard Woods, with the erection of one of the most artistic and up-to-date new business apartment blocks which are rapidly featuring this section of the village, will be taken about the first of December, Salvatore Di Francesco an- nounced this week. About the first of next month he will move his grocery store from its present location at 890 Linden avenue, which is a part of the corner to be developed, to the store room at 905 Linden avenue, across the street, where he will conduct the business until his new building is completed, about May 1, next year. Contain Five Stores His old store building will be torn down and in about two weeks work will be started on the new building, which will be three stories in height, having a frontage of 77 feet on Linden and 141 feet on Tower road. There will be five store rooms and eight flats, three of the stores fronting on Lin-, den, the center one of which will be occupied by the Hubbard Woods Gro- cery. There will also be two stores on the Tower road side of the build- ing. Modernly Outfitted The apartments on the second and third stories will comprise four, five and six rooms, each equipped with electric refrigeration. The building will be provided with a garbage incin- erator and the most modern laundry equipment, including an electric dryer. The first story will be of stone, the second of brick and the third of stucco with stone trim. A metal balcony will feature the ex- terior at the Linden and Tower cor- ner, at both the second 'and third floors, and similar balconies are planned for both stories on the Tower street side. Mr. Di Francesco says the improve- ment, including the ground value, rep- resents an investment of something like $150,000. Black-White Team Loses to Wilmette in Last "Grid" Game In a game of football featured by fine playing by both elevens, the Wil- mette team defeated the Winnetka Black and White eleven on New Trier high football field on Thursday morn- ing by a score of 6 to 0. It was the last game of the season and a big crowd of followers of the teams turned out. In spite of the fact that the field was muddy the players played exception- ally well. "Agate" Martin starred for the Black and White, while Joe Pal- etti was the outstanding performer for Wilmette. The Black and White team closes the season with only two defeats registered against it, having lost to Fort Sheridan by a narrow squeak, the margin by which the soldiers won be- ing a single point. The score was 7 to 6. The other defeat was met in the last game against Wilmette. GIVES THANKSGIVING SERMON Rev. James Austin Richards, of the Winnetka Congregational church, de- livered the sermon at the union Thanksgiving service in Evanston, which was held at the First Congega- tional church in that city, Thursday morning.
