December 3, 1927 WINNETKA TALK PRESENT 2ND SYMPHONY CONCERT MONDAY NIGHT Carlos Salzedo, Harpist, Is Solo- ist; George Swigart Plays in Afternoon The second concert of the New Trier Orchestral association series by the Little Symphony orchestra of Chi- cago, George Dasch, director, will be given in New Trier High school audi- torium Monday evening, December 5, at 8:15 o'clock. The customary Chil- dren's concert will be given in the afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the au- ditorium. Carlos Salzedo, harpist, will be the soloist at the evening concert. Mr. Sal- zedo gained his artistic training at the Bordeaux Conservatore (1892-1895), wnining there the first prize in sofeggio and piano, and in the Paris Conserva- toire, where he studied solfeggio under Schwartz, piano with Charles de Beriot and harp with Hasselmans. From 1901 until 1905 Mr. Salzedo made concert tours as harpist in France, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Germany and Austria. From 1909 until 1913 he was solo harp- ist at the Metropolitan Opera House, New York. In 1913 he formed the Trio de Lutece with G. Barrere, flutist and P. Kefer, violoncellist. As a harpist, his artistry and virtuosity have never been equalled by anyone in any period of history. In order to raise money for the New Trier High School Girls' club scholarship fund for the purpose of send deserving girls to college. A check room has been established for your convenience where you may leave your wraps without cost. Then vou may sit at one of the 250 tables for bridge playing, or at one of the bunco tables and enjoy a thoroughly delight- ful afternoon. When you care to (during dummy hands, etc.), you may wish to wander to the Petite Patis- serie to buy (from girls in chic French peasant costumes) delicious homemade cakes, pies, breads, and puddings to take home. During the course of the afternoon refreshments will be sold. Costumed girls will wait on you. A beautiful, new, large, silver samovar will help create a party-like atmo- sphere. The card playing will continue from 2:30 o'clock until 5. The hour and a half from 5 to 6:30 will be open to the public so that the people may purchase delicacies at the Petite Patis- serie. Twenty-five girls will be serv- ing at the Food booth from 2:30 until 6:30 on hour shifts. Door tickets will be soid. Everyone is welcomed to the party. Besides giv- ing vourself pleasure you will be help- ing to send worthy girls to college. OUR NAME describes our business to a "T."
