The Golden Text was from Isaiah 19:22, "The Lord shall smite Egypt: he shall smite and heal it. Among the citations which com- prised the lesson-sermon was the fol- lowing from the Bible: "And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Be- hold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God him- self shall be with them, and be their God. And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof" (Rev. 21:3, 23). The lesson-sermon also included the following passages from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," by Mary Baker Eddy: "This city of our God has no need of sun or satellite, for love is the light of it, and divine Mind is its own interpreter. All who are saved must walk in this light. Mighty potentates and dynasties will lay down their honors within the heavenly ctiy. Its gates open towards light and glory both within and without, for all is good, and nothing can enter that city, which 'defileth, . . . or maketh a lie'" (p. 577). Mrs. Charles B. Officer of 680 Cherry street is to leave Winnetka Monday with her son, Charles Officer II, to visit her parents in Pittsburgh during the Christmas holidays. Mr. Officer will join them later. St. Mary's Bazaar Proceeds to Bring Joy to Children The annual bazaar, sponsored by St. Frances guild, of the Episcopal church for the benefit of St. Mary's Home for Children, 2822 Jackson boulevard, Chi- cago, will be given at the Home on Saturday, December 10, from 10 in the . morning until 10 at night. A turkey dinner will be served from 5 to 8. The women of the guild work earn- estly to make this affair a success. Their hearts are in the work because upon the success of the bazaar some- what depends the happiness of the lit- tle girls whose only home is St. Mary's. Every parishioner. is asked to bear in mind that the more profitable the bazaar the more cheer for the Home children. St. Frances guild asks the hearty co-operation and patronage of every church persom. There is scarcely a parish in the Chi- cago diocese but has its own bazaar and always there is something left ug- sold. It would be greatly appreciated if some of these materials were to be donated to St. Mary's bazaar. Such articles may be sent to Mrs.: C.:.-A. Gowdy, 1028 Ontario street, Oak Park, or to St. Mary's home. BAHAI LECTURE (Contributed) In the epoch of universal peace now being inducted, God's law and the mun- dane laws are to become one; the will of God will prevail on earth as it does in heaven, in accordance with the Lord's Prayer. A new spirit and animus will animate humanity. The Bahai teachings along this line will be exemplified at the meeting in the studio of Louis Bourgeois, 536 Sheridan road, Wilmette, at 3 p. m., Sunday, December 4. Dr. Zia M., Bag- dadi will be the speaker. Seekers for light are requested to submit questions. The public library and reading room at 112 Linden avenue is open daily.
