aa December 10, 1927 WINNETKA TALK 43 Kenilworth Club Holds Reception for New Members This week the Kenilworth club is having a dance and reception. It is an evening dedicated to the new members to welcome them into the club and into the community life. The dance com- mittee members and their husbands will be in line to receive. This com- mittee includes the following women: Mrs. Harold Tideman, chairman; Mrs. Walter Botthoff, Mrs. Paul Bradiey, Mrs. Clayton Burch, Mrs. Wendell Carke, Mrs. John Dix, Mrs. Leon Ellis, Mrs. Alexander Joslin, Mrs. Leslie McArthur, Mrs. Jacques LaChappelle, Mrs. John Rathbone, Mrs. Welton Stallsmith, Mrs. James Starr, Mrs. Ward Starrett, Mrs. Herbert Taylor, and Mrs. Arthur Wakeley. Those preferring the cheer of the living room may enjoy all the comforts of home at these club parties before a cozy log fire. Card tables are al- ways available upon request. Last Friday the club had a large supper bridge with about 125 guests present. The committee in charge served an excellent dinner and fur- nished many beautiful prizes. Sunday Evening Group of Young People Increases The Young People's society under the auspices of the Kenilworth Union church, is steadily growing in popularity among the younger set in the village. At the weekly meeting on Sunday, November 27, Miss Berenice Cole of Essex road gave a very interesting talk, telling of her European trip in 1924, which she colored with many unusual anecdotes and observations. On Sun- day, November 4, Dr. Herbert Willett, minister of the Union church, enter- tained the young people with a talk on "Tents and Saddles in Palestine," which he illustrated with lantern slides. The attendance at thest meetings which are held every Sunday evening at 5:45 o'clock, is increasing each week and all young people who are interest- ed are urged to come. A light supper is served before the program. SHOWER FOR BRIDE ELECT Among the many showers and par- ties being given in honor of Miss Mary Worthington preceding her marriage to Alfredo Mazzarella op December 28, was a shower given by Miss Dorothy Joy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. Scott Joy, 370 Sheridan road, Winnetka, who is to be one of the bridesmaids. The affair took place recently at Miss Joy's home. Among those present were Mrs. Harry Donaldson, Mrs. Hugh Robinson, Miss Wilma Cresmer, Mrs. Clarence D. Worthington, Miss Edith Bullen, Mrs. James H. Prentess, Miss Jule Lester, and Miss Annette Kelly. Miss Margery Windes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank A. Windes of 873 Spruce street, sailed yesterday from Cherbourg on the S.S. Auronia. She will arrive in New York about December 18, and will be home for Christmas. She has been in Europe since June, traveling, and living in Paris. --0-- Announcement is made of the birth of a son to Mr. and Mrs. Sam Clarke of 135 Fuller lane, Winnetka, last Friday. Mrs. Clarke was formerly Miss Harriet Ridgway of Kenilworth. --n The Friday Sewing club met with Mrs. Edwin Hedrick, Melrose avenue, Kenilworth, last week. The next meeting will be with Mrs. E.
