The food sale was also very popular, Five hundred peo- ple in the township turned out for the bridge party. Bridge was played until about 4:30 o'clock, when refreshments were served by attractive girls in stif- fly starched gingham dresses. Between hands and during dummy hands people visited the food booth where they near- ly always made some purchase from the dainty array. Taking the benefit as a whole, the Girls' club realized about $1,000, in- cluding the food booth which brought in $200. The two-fold aim of the bridge benefit was attained; firstly to make $1,000--and, secondly, to encourage the girls to go into a bazaar next year with the enthusiasm that they would not have had had they given a bazaar this year instead of something different. The girls were particularly glad to make their thousand dollars this year as Miss Wright, who is now on leave of absence while teaching in an English school, will be so delighted. The Girls' club also wishes to thank the people of the township for the hearty co-operation and support. which the various villages showed in all the projects of the Girls' club.
