Council Hears Objections to Corner Widening Proceedings in progress for the widening of the Tower and Green Bay road intersection with a view to speed- ing up traffic at this narrow roadway corney, have been halted by the Win- netka board of local improvements until the Streets Drainage and For- estry committee of the council, of which Trustee H. L. Raclin is chair- man, may investigate objections which have been filed against the improve- ment. Property owners residing north of Tower road and east of Green Bay, whose children are compelled to cross one or the other of these streets at this corner on their way to and from school, have presented to the board objections to the street being widened. They contend that it will only increase the hazard to their children, in that it will enable cars to be driven at greater speed at this corner than now prevails, and feel that if the council decides that it is necessary to widen the streets, it should, for the sake of safety, place "stop and go" lights at the intersection. Erwin P. Snyder, living at 939 Tower road, appeared before the board Tuesday evening, explaining the situ- ation from the viewpoint of himself and his neighbors, following which the board referred the matter to Trustee Raclin's committee for further study.
