December 17, 1927 WINNETKA TALK 69 Women Voters (Contributed) The 130 women who gave up their Christmas shopping and attended the luncheon of the Winnetka League of Women Voters last Monday in Com- munity House pronounced the pro- gram a most interesting picture of the national scope of league work. Miss Belle Sherwin, the national president, who made a hurried trip from the Moraine Hotel in Highland Park, where the national board is in session, gave a most fitting talk as an introduction to the educational pro- gram planned by Mrs. William B. Moulton, Winnetka chairman of edu- cation. Miss Sherwin emphasized the large curriculum of study undertaken by the League in its efforts to educate women for political service. The four college women -- Miss Katherine Adams, representing Bryn Mawr; Miss Mary Jane Judson, Smith; Mrs. Hallet Thorne, Vassar; and Mrs. Fred Page, Wisconsin-- brought out in so entertaining a way the work done in their respective col- leges toward fitting women graduates for civic service that the entire audi- ence wished that they might enter col- lege at once. Some of the distinctive work done at Bryn Mawr is: Student lecture forum, Summer school for in- : dustrial women, Close association with a national counsellor of the League of Women Voters; Smith col- lege: A large interest in courses deal- ing with government and politics, A course in international law, Keen in- terest in national elections and issues; Vassar: Courses in euthenics, Inter- collegiate debates, Vassar college po- litical association, which visits the leg- islature and state institutions; Wis- consin: Strong collegiate chapter of League of Women Voters; Deep in- terest in international issues because If rN of Fre numawer or Toreign students, y ¥ you Jon our NEW CHRISTMAS Pre-clection work carried on for stu- |g CLUB now open for membership, and let old Santa Claus be your Special honor guests at the lunch- |§ i 1 i 2 1 i Special honor. guests at the lunch- pilot, he will steer you right And when your ship comes in next Hall at Lake Fores and from New| Christmas it will bring you a nice roll of crisp bills that will take the rier 1gh school. jer High school. © i by ure |B worry out of Christmas and make it a merry one.
