The girls made posters to advertise the sale. Their efforts netted over $4.50 and this amount is to be doubled by a friend of the group. A year ago, the girls made Christmas a happy day for this family, and have kept in touch with them throughout the year. Mrs. Philip Fisher and Miss Allison Koch are the guardians of this group. Thursday afternoon, December 22, the Camp Fire Guardians' Training course which Miss Estelle Farley has been conducting in Community House, was closed with a Camp Fire Ceremon- ial. Mrs. Elaine Grable, Chicago ex- ecutive of Camp Fire Girls, conducted the ceremonial meeting, with Mrs. John Marshall's Camp Fire group dem- onstrating the songs and the candle- lighting. The meeting was held in the Camp Fire room. All the active Win- netka Camp Fire Girls were present, and joined in the songs and ceremon- ies. Mrs. Grable spoke of the service that Camp Fire Girls could give, espe- cially at this Christmas season. Florence Shop Workers Provide for Poor Family From a bag of flour to the nicest home-made jellies, articles filling three bushel baskets were the Christmas gift of the Florence shop to a worthy family of a widowed mother and her eight children. The articles were pro- vided by the workers at this dress- making shop, which is located at 952 Linden avenue, Hubbard Woods. Traveler Portable Radio Complete, Regularly $84.25 = a Radio Service Shop (Open Evenings 7 to 9 P, M. 18 PROUTY ANNEX Winnetka 1840 COMPLETE PLANS FOR ANNUAL GARDEN SHOW North Shore Groups to Partici- pate in Great Exhibition in Chicago Next March Plans for the 1928 Chicago Garden and Flower show, to be held March 28 to April 1 were laid last Thursday at the first meeting of the Flower Show committee in the Hotel Sherman. Forty-five garden clubs, including Wilmette, Kenilworth, Winnetka and Glencoe groups, and all the parks and commercial horticultural interests of the Chicago district will participate in the show. Mrs. Frederick Fisher, president of the Garden Club of Illinois, announced that since the 1927 show, in which twenty-seven clubs participated, the number of garden clubs in the Chicago district has doubled, and that all the clubs will take part in the following series of contests which will be a principal feature of the show: table decorations, floral pictures, window boxes, miniature landscape models and model gardens, life size. A lecture schedule will provide garden talks three times each day. A premium list carrying many thous- ands of dollars in prizes has been issued and representatives of the com- mercial flower growers promised that the 1928 show would have several times as many flowers on display as last year. The Forest Preserve district of Cook county will be an exhibitor. Ex- hibits were also promised from the private estates of Lake Forest and Lake Geneva. It was announced that the garden club committee will hold a meeting immediately after New Year's to or- ganize its end of the exhibition.
