Christian Science | Churches "Is the Universe, Including Man, Evolved by Atomic Force?" was the subject of the lesson-sermon in all Churches of Christ, Scientist, Sunday, December 18. The golden text was from Deuter- onomy 10:14; "Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the Lord's thy God, the earth also, with all that therein is." Among the citations which comprised the lesson-sermon was the following from the Bible: "Who hath directed the Spirit of the Lord, or being his counsellor hath taught him? With whom took he counsel, and who in- structed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding? Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding" (Isaiah 40:13, 14, 28). The lesson-sermon also included the following passages from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," by Mary Baker Eddy: "All things are created spiritually. Mind, not matter, is the creator. Love, the divine Principle, is the Father and Mother of the universe, including man . . . No form nor physi- cal combination is adequate to repre- sent infinite Love" (p. 256). Frederick Rummler of 1015 Starr road, Winnetka, is home from Cornell university for the holiday season. His speed and cleverness enabled him to gain consist- ently through the opponent's defense, and his brilliant work in the backfield was responsible for many of the acade- my's victories. Clyde Cooley, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Cooley of 625 Eleventh street, Wilmette, and Francis and Richard Oelerich, sons of Mr, and Mrs. F. J. Oelerich of 1201 Greenwood avenue, Wilmette, also performed creditably for the Cadets on the gridiron. It was their team-work that made it possible for Joe O'Neill to break loose for long runs. On the basketball floor, Cooley and the Oelerich boys, are making history for themselves. Their fine offensive and defensive work has netted the academy team two wins thus far. At present, the St. Thomas academy bas- ketball team is competing for the right to represent the Catholic High schools of the Northwest at the National tour- nament held annually at Loyola uni- versity, Chicago.
