BE 24, 1927 December WINNETKA TALK 41 Village Movies A special Christmas matinee will be given at the Village theater next Mon- day when "The College Widow, Warner Bros. production fe aturing Dolores Costello, will be presented. The picture is a screen revival of George Ade's spectacular play of the name and presents Miss Costello at her best. "The Girl from Chicago," another production by Warner and the Wed- nesday billing, is a splendid melodrama | of the underworld with Conrad Nage: and Myrna Lov in the leading roles. Nagel plays the role of Handsome Joe, | a detective in disguise, while Myrna is the southern girl who learns that ner brother has been sentenced to die for | a crime of which he is not guilty and | comes to save him. Milton Sills' far-famed "Hard-Boiled Haggerty" will be the bill for Thurs- day and Friday. Sills is cast as the hard-bitten "ace" of the World war and has a large amount of comedy ac- tion which is said to prove him an artist in this department as well as in the more serious vein. William Haines in "Spring Fever," which also features George K. Arthur and Joan Crawford, will be shown on Saturday. It is a clever little comedy- drama of a shipping clerk who is a golf "bug." F riendship Circle | Holds Next Meeting January 10 The Girl's Friendship circle will not hold its weekly meetings during the holidays. At the next meeting, to be held Tuesday, January 10, plans will be made for a winter frolic and sleigh- ride party.
