Rosa Raisa will once more have the role of Maliella, to which she brings such superb theatrical skill and such a prodigious wealth of song, and Augusta Lenska and Giacomo Rimini will also be heard among the thirty- one singers required for the cast. An item of special interest will be Antonio Cortis' first local performance in the tenor role. Roberto Moranzoni will conduct, and the ballet will be seen in the third act. "Faust" will be repeated Monday night, January 16, with the company's new Belgian tenor, Rene Maison, in the title role. Edith Mason, Vanni- Marcoux, Desire Defrere and Maria Claessens will have familiar parts, and Irene Pavloska will be added to the cast in the role of Siebel. The ballet will dance. Giorgio Polacco will con- duct. "La Gioconda" Tuesday Tuesday's bill is "La Gioconda," one of the season's most popular operas, with Rosa Raisa, Lorna Doone Jack- son, Augusta Lenska, Charles Mar- shall, Cesare Formichi and Charles Ba- romeo in principal roles. The ballet will be seen in the famous "Dance of the Hours," and Roberto Moran- zoni will lead the performance. Florence Macbeth, eminent American coloratura soprano, will rejoin the company for Wednesday's mid-week matinee, when "Rigoletto" is given its last hearing this season. Charles Hackett's first appearance as the Duke this season will be an added attraction. Richard Bonelli, Lorna Doone Jackson and Charles Baromeo will have other roles. Henry G. Weber will conduct. The performance will be sung at pop- ular prices. "Sapho" Wednesday "Sapho" will be given its second per- formance Wednesday evening with the same cast heard in its revival a week before--Mary Garden, Lucille Meusel, Maria Claessens, Fernand Ansseau, Desire Defrere and Edouard Cotreuil: Giorgio Polacco conducting. Thursday's bill will be the delightful operetta, "Die Fledermaus," heard for the second time since its introduction as a special New Year's Eve bill. It will be sung in English by Rosa Raisa, Irene Pavloska, Charles Hackett, For- rest Lamont, Giacomo Rimini, Chase Baromeo, Virgilio Lazzari and others. The ballet will interpolate a dance to Johann Strauss' "Beautiful Blue Dan- ube" waltz, and Henry G. Weber will conduct. "Resurrection" will be given its only performance of the season as Friday night's special bill. Mary Garden, whose success in the role of Katiuscha has led to an extensive revival of Alfa- no's opera in Italy and France, will have a new Prince Dimitri in the per- son of Rene Maison. Lorna Doone Jackson, Maria Claessens, Cesare For- michi and others will also be heard. Roberto Moranzoni will conduct. "La Traviata" Saturday "La Traviata" will be repeated at the Saturday matinee, with Claudia Mu- zio in the title role. Antonio Cortis has been added to the cast as Alfredo, and Richard Bonelli will be the father. The ballet will dance, and Giorgio Po- POD DOPOD WW lacco will conduct.
