Friedman at 319 Sheridan road, on the lake in Win- netka, has just been made. The land fronts 200 feet on Sheridan road, a few feet north of the Elder Lane park, and is improved with a 3 story modern stucco residence situated on the bluff overlooking Lake Michigan, with large garage and quarters on the Sheridan road front. The house was built by the Fried- mans a few years ago and the archi- tects were Pond & Pond. E. Mans- field Jones of the Continental & Com- mercial National bank is the purchaser and will occupy the property shortly. Herbert J. Friedman represented the sellers in a legal capacity and Charles E. Pain, the purchaser. The consider- ation 'is not disclosed. Arthur C. F. Gedge of the Winnetka office of Hill & Stone was the broker in the sale. Robert O. Samuelson has sold his residence located at 1121 S. Lincoln avenue, Highland Park to William R. Wright and wife, the purchasers hav- ing taken possession. Arthur C. F. John Smith Plans to Break Ground for Building in Win- netka on February 15 The southeast corner or Chestnut street and Chestnut court, one of the few remaining pieces of vacant prop- erty in the Winnetka "C commercial" area, is very soon to be developed with one of the most artistic business and apartment buildings in the entire vil- lage. John Smith, owner of the property, expects to break ground about Feb- ruary 15, and to have the building completed by September 15. Frederick V. Prather, architect, has designed a building of most pleasing lines, in the Elizabethian and Tudor style. It will be three stories in height, comprise fourteen apartments and three stores, but in general appearance will more nearly represent a large resi- dence rather than an apartment build- ing. Mr. Smith has conducted the delica- tessen at 819 Oak street for the past twenty years. His store and the apart- ment above, which he and his family occupy, is at the southeast corner of Oak and Chestnut streets, directly south of the new apartment which he is building, and is also a corner which, as visioned by Mr. Smith, will some day, in the near future, blossom forth in a similar development as the one he is now planning for the corner to the north. Banker Purchases Lot for a new Home on Ingleside Park The following sale has been closed by Hokanson & Jenks, Inc. 513 Davis street, Evanston, since the first of the year: Piece of vacant property with 80 feet south frontage on Ingleside Park, 105 feet east of Sheridan Road, has been purchased by Craig Hazelwood, Vice-president of The Union Trust company and Vice-president of the American Bankers association. He is erecting an attractive English cottage residence. The sellers are Charlotte H. Reiman and Ida Howe. The purchaser was repesented by Mr. Robert 8. Crane of Quinlan and Tyson, Inc, the sellers by Herbert C. Jenks, of Hok- anson & Jenks, Inc. New Colonial on Ashland Bought by P. W. Steitz The Wilmette Realty company re- ports the following sales: New brick colonial residence at 1357 Ashland ave- nue, Wilmette, sold for Everette L. Kennedy to P. W. Steitz of Chicago, also a 75 foot lot on Ash street, Win- netka, near Berkely avenue sold for P. W. Steitz to E. L. Kennedy; new brick residence at Church road and Hill Terrace, Winnetka, sold for George F. Gonsalves to James D. Elder of Wilmette; the residence of Mrs. Virginia M.
