16 WINNETKA TALK February 11, 1928 Troop 9 Takes Trip to Cabin in Woods Today Many Scout troops enjoy trips to Cabin in the Woods. Troop 33 of Lincoln school, Highland Park, en- joyed a fine overnight hike last Fri- day and Saturday at the Cabin in the Woods. Scoutmaster Walter Borg was in charge of the group which con- sisted of about 25 Scouts. Troop 9 of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Wil- mette, will hold their next hike on February 17 and 18. Troop 8 of Wilmette Baptist Church will also hold an overnight camping trip to the Cabin in the Woods on February 24 and 25. The Cabin in the Woods provided for the Scouts of the North Shore Area through the generosity of the Cook County Forest Preserve, is available for the use of any troop by making reservation in advance. Two spring camps will be held during the Faster vacations and an intensive program of camping will be carried on throughout the summer. GIVE LINCOLN PROGRAMS Special Lincoln programs are being held this Friday by the Seniors and vari- ous adviser groups of the underclassmen of New Trier High school. The Seniors are meeting together in the assembly while each of the adviser groups is conducting its own program. Augustus D. Curtis, world traveler, and uncle of Mrs. Fred Rye, of Wilmette, who leaves early next week for a four months' game hunt in Africa, was guest of honor at a moose dinner given Friday, February 3, at the Adventurers' club in Chicago. SS Mrs. Winifred T. Cree, 779 Foxdale avenue, violinist, accompanied by Mrs. Clarence B. Evans, gave the program Monday afternoon for the Lake View Musical society. Special Series of Lenten Observances A series of unusually interesting community Lenten services are being arranged jointly by the Kenilworth Union church and the Church of the Holy Comforter to be held each Wed- nesday evening through the Lenten season, beginning February 29. These services, which will alternate between the churches, will bring to Kenilworth some of the foremost preachers in this section of the country. Included among the great who have been secured for special observances are: Dr. Henry Hepburn, Buena Memor- ial Presbyterian church, Chicago; Dr. leaders these James M. Stifler, Evanston Baptist church; the Rev. John K. Coolidge, rector, St. Elisabeth's Episcopal church, Glencoe; Bishop Edwin Holt Hughes of the Methodist denomina- tion; Dr. James A. Richards, Winnet- ka Congregational church, and Dean Frederick C. Grant, Western Theologi- cal seminary. The Kenilworth Choral society will assist in the musical program at these services. DELTA DELTA DELTA Members of Delta Delta Delta North Shore Upsilon alliance held their February business meeting yes- terday at the home of Mrs. Webster H. Burke, 6163 Kenmore avenue, Chi- cago. Assisting hostesses were Mrs. Lawrence J. Lindsay, Mrs. Herbert C. Lummis, Mrs. William M. Murray and Mrs. L. Malcolm Schweers.
