February 25, 1928 WINNETKA TALK 9 Panther Basketmen Defeat Wehr Lights by Score of 28 - 17 The Panthers, Winnetka boys' club, turned another game to their credit recently by taking the lightweights into camp by a score of 28 to 17. The game was a little closer than the score indicates, each team playing a fast and tight game. The regulars started and ran up quite a score against their opponents but near the end of the game the substitutes were sent in and did not fare so well. The game ended too quickly for the Wehr five, however, and they were able to slip in only two baskets before the whistle blew. The Panthers seemed to have their eyes out for baskets throughout the game and "Min" Runnfeldt dropped in five baskets and one free throw, "Galk" Runnfeldt rung up another five baskets, and Felix Balak snapped in three more goals and a free throw. Outstanding work was done by "Ches" Thorsen. Although he did not score a basket, his playing was marked by accurate passing and brilliant guard- ing. The Panthers have been victorious in all of their engagements this season, winning three successive starts. Next Monday the "Big Five" is on the schedule. The Panthers defeated this team earlier in the season by a score of 13 to 9 and are favored to take the second tilt. The game will start at 7 o'clock at the Community House gym and visitors are welcome. The Pan- thers are coached by H. P. Clarke and "Agate" Martin.
