March 31, 1928 WINNETKA TALK 9 Lens Club Photo Contest to Close Sunday, April 1 Last year a rather unusual club was formed at New Trier High school called the Camera club. As the name signifies, the club's purpose to broaden interest in any of photography. Soon after the club was organized, the name was changed to Lens club, since the group's activities include work in all sorts of photographic work, not just the taking of pictures alone. At present the club's activities include the technical end or develop- ing, movie projecting and snap shots. Later the club hopes to take up color photography. The first big enterprise of the club was undertaken last summer when Jane Ashman, Whitfield Cooke and Natalie Hurd, with the financial assis- tance of Mr. Hurd of Winnetka, di- rected the filming of "Young Love," a story of high school romance in which students of New Trier starred. The picture shown at the high school last fall was much enjoyed and netted about $200. With this money the club expects to buy a movie projector. With the assistance of the Scrib- lerus, the literary club, the Lens club hopes to produce another picture in the near future. At present a contest is being held to stimulate interest in art pho- tography. The contest is conducted by the Lens club and is open to all New Trier students. Two prizes will be awarded.
