Knapp, for 36 years director of the violin department of Northwestern university School of Music, will take the baton for the last time as director of the Evanston Sym- phony orchestra at its final concert of the season Tuesday evening. Prof. Knapp is retiring from the faculty of the music school and the directorship of the orchestra and will go to Florida to make his home at the end of the university semester. Mrs. John Ritchie of 565 Arbor Vitae road left last Saturday to spend two weeks in Arizona with Miss Louise Otis, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William A. Otis of 644 Oak street. Scouts See Pictures Taken on World Cruise On Tuesday of this week, Aubra R. Dunham, son of C. R. Dunham of Glencoe, who directed the taking of motion pictures during the University World Cruise which started in Sep- tember, 1926, and extended to May, 1927, and included thirty-six foreign countries, presented a program of the films taken on the trip for Scouts of Wilmette. The program was arranged by L. E. Matson, chairman of the Troop com- mittee of Troop 3 of the Wilmette Scouts. It was held in the Wilmette Parish Methodist church. Some of the pictures were taken by Mr. Harris, official photographer of the New York Times, the remainder by Mr. Dunham, and all are his own personal collection. Colored slides were also shown. Several hundred Scouts and their friends enjoyed the program. PATRONESS AT RECITAL Mrs. Amuel B. Spach, 228 Leicester road, Kenilworth, was one of the pat- ronesses at a debut song recital on Tuesday evening, April 3, in Kimball hall, at which the Musical Guild, Inc. presented Miss Maria Matyas, sopra- no. The student group of the Musical guild, of which this artist is chairman, entertained Miss Matyas immediately after the recital, at the Guild house on Rush street, A number of dances, both formal and informal, have been scheduled for April 14. The Wranglers will give a formal dinner dance at Shawnee Coun- try club. The Northwestern downtown Commerce club is holding its annual spring dance at the Edgewater Beach hotel.
