April 7, 1928 WINNETKA Modernistic Art Features Rosenberg Window The modernistic influence that is finding expression in art and decoration is admirably exemplified in this window display which was one of Rosenberg's formal spring opening windows. The modern treatment, with its pure, almost classical lines and the elimination of unnecessary details, provides a back- ground or setting for the dramatic projection of the merchandise shown. Quite in harmony with this treatment is the use of cactus instead of the usual palms for foliage. Winnetkan Gives Sunlight Outfit to Welfare Society Two weeks ago the Winnetka branch of the Infant Welfare society sent out through the WINNETKA TALK an appeal for a sunlight machine to bring sun- shine and health to the children of the congested city neighborhoods. A Win- netka man, who wishes his name with- held, answered this appeal by telling Mrs. Ballard Bradley, president of the Winnetka branch, that he would give a sunlight machine to the Chicago Commons station, which is. the station supported by the Winnetka Infant Welfare board. This station has been for years a Class A station, which means that all the activities of Infant Welfare are included in its program. The addition of the sunlight machine makes the Winnetka station just a lit- tle better than the best, and the Infant Welfare society. and. Chicago Com- mons extend their sincere appreciation to the donor of the instrument. TALK 51 A Fence for the Small Estate These snug little suburban homesteads of two or three acres can well mark their legal limits with the fence that "fits in" admirably with artistic and comfortable surroundings. RUSTICRAFT'S hand-split timbers of tough young chestnut are as good to look at as they are sturdy and durable. Their natural rustic appearance actually improves with age and requires no paint or care. RUSTICRAFT is easily erected and just as easily taken down for removal.
