April 7, 1928 WINNETKA TALK WORSHIP FOR ALL AGES AT EASTER SERVICES Congregational Church to Have Novel Program; Unique De- parture from Old Custom In observing the Easter festival, the Winnetka Congregational church this year offers some departures from former customs. Weather permitting, the young peo- ple of high school age will begin the day with a sunrise prayer meeting on the beach belonging to George B. Massey, just south of Lake Front park. The hour will be 7 o'clock. A special innovation will be the holding of two sessions of the regular Easter morning worship. This is in order that all may be accommodated and is a practice that no doubt will be continued at least until the new church is built. The two services will be essentially alike in every way ex- cept that one will be held at 9:30 and one at 11 o'clock. The Rev. James Austin Richards will be the preacher and the whole service will be in the Easter spirit. Worshippers are asked to choose which ever session suits them best. Those who attend the first ser- vice will be asked not to leave it through the Library or through Com- munity House, but pass out the east and the north doors of the church. Any arriving early for the second service are asked to enter through Community House where if necessary they can comfortably wait until the church is ready for them to take their places. Service for Small Children At 9:30 o'clock in Matz hall Dr. J. W. F. Davies will conduct a special service of worship for those from the fourth grade through to the first year of high school. Sophomores, juniors and seniors will attend the adult ser- vices. Kindergarten - and primary grades will meet in their rooms as usual. At 3:30 o'clock in the afternoon there will be a special baptismal ser- vice at which parents may present their children for Christian baptism. At 5 o'clock will come the Faster Vesper service with Easter music and sermon by Rev. Thomas A. Goodwin on "Realizing Immortality." Church School Service On Easter Sunday morning there will be a service of worship at 9:30 o'clock for those pupils in the Win- netka Congregational Church school from the fourth grade through to the first year of high school. This service will be held in Matz hall. The Primary and Kindergarten will go to their own rooms as usual at 9:30 o'clock. The second, third and fourth year high school pupils will attend the adult service of worship. All regular classes will be discontinued for the day. Chamber of Commerce to Elect Officers Monday At the monthly dinner and meeting of the Winnetka Chamber of Com- merce at Community House next Mon- day evening, ten directors for the year beginning May 1 will be elected. The new president and other officers will be selected from these ten directors. The nominating committee elected at the March meeting and consisting of R. F. Doepel, chairman, C. T. Northrup, Vic Killian, A. F. Peters and Harvey N. Bowen has selected the following ten members to serve as di- rectors: Thomas J. Lynch, B. G. Eberle, W. T. Wersted, R. F. Call the Camp Fire Girls The library committee of the Win- netka Camp Fire Girls is conducting a search for books that would be suit- able to add to the collection in the Camp Fire Girls' room at Community House. The committee announces that there is considerable space on the shelves that needs filling and residents having books which they are ready to "pass on" are asked to keep this in mind and either leave them at Com- munity House or phone Mrs. Edwin S. Fletcher at Winnetka 2454 or Mrs. Alfred Freeman at Winnetka 1153 who will see that they are called for.
