Higgins Due Back at Indian Hill First of May A communication from George Jud- son Higgins, tennis pro at Indian Hill club, announcing that he will return to Winnetka in the near future in order to prepare for the coming tennis season, has been received by WINNETKA TALK. The present season will be Mr. Higgins' fifth as pro at Indian Hill. He will arrive on or about May 1 and will immediately start work, he states. Mr. Higgins also writes very inter- estingly of tennis in Southern Califor- nia. He states in part: "Tennis is an all year around game in California and tournaments are in vogue throughout both winter and summer months on public courts as well as private or club courts. "The all-cement court is used here extensively, the texture of its surface being very conducive to fine foot-work, fast play and steadiness. "Styles of play among the expo- nents of the game vary according to the influence of the various prototypes among the leading players frequently observed on the courts of any com- munity." -------- tl Hh, HJ 1 gs est prices. Winnetka is to observe this week as Better Homes Week with confer- ences each evening on special subjects relating to the home; with exhibits, and by special speakers on the subject at the regular meetings of different organizations in the village. A most interesting series of conferences has been planned for each evening of Bet- ter Homes Week with a speaker of authority on the subject as leader. The meetings will be somewhat in the nature of round-table conferences, with discussion by the audience, after the main address. Residents of Winnetka are not only cordially invited, but are earnestly urged to attend these conferences which will be held in Community House each evening at 8 o'clock throughout Better Homes Week. Outline Program The schedule is as follows: Monday evening, April 23, 8--Con- ference--"A House or an Apartment -- Which?" Ernest Ballard. speaker. The committee feels that this Bureau of Information will be particularly inter- esting to young people who are con- sidering building a home. Dr, J. W. F. Davies is general chairman of Better Homes Week in Winnetka. He urges that as many as possible take advantage of these con- ferences which are offered each eve- ning of that week, and come 'pre- pared to help in the discussions.
