April 14, 1928 WINNETKA "TALK CALM AT NORTHFIELD With Only One Ticket in the Field, Annual Village Election Tuesday Creates Little Interest The annual Village election at Northfield, which will be held Tuesday, April 17, promises, with only one ticket in the field, to be a very quiet affair. There are three trustees to be elect- ed, two of whom are present members of the board and up for re-election. They are John Effelandt and Fred Haut. Trustee John Seul's term also ex- pires this spring and as he is not a candidate for re-election, Howard Higgins has been nominated to fill his place. The long talked of Village hall in Northfield kas not yet developed into a reality, although it is said another year may witness an improvement of this nature. Northfield, from a commercial point of view, has been expanding rapidly, much of the area along both the Chica- go & North Western and the North Shore Skokie Valley line tracks being now occupied with industrial plants and yards of various kinds. Some building has started on the west side, and this part of the develop- ment of the new village will, it is predicted, be given added impetus with the culmination of plans which are now in the making, in the way of obtaining an adequate water supply, and a com- plete sewerage system.
