April 14, 1928 WINNETKA TALK Judson-Rice Wedding Occasions Numerous Pre-Nuptial Affair Many are the affairs friends of Miss Mary Jane Judson and Kingsley Lor- ing Rice are planning to antedate their marriage on Tuesday, April 24. Some already have been marked off on their engagement calendars, but a series of parties still is to come. Mrs. Gordon McKeldin of Evanston entertained for Miss Judson at a bridge Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Charles French entertained at her home in Evanston Thursday afternoon. Yester- day Mrs. Willam S. Morris was hos- tess in Miss Judson's honor and this evening Mr. and Mrs. Gordon M. Jones will entertain the members of the bridal party at a reception at their home in Evanston. Miss Lydia At- water will give a luncheon at her home on April 17. The following day Miss Dorothy Pickard entertains the bride- elect and her attendants at a luncheon at the College club, followed by bridge. Thursday, April 19, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Edward Ingram, uncle and aunt of Miss Judson, will give a dinner for the bridal party at the Union League club and Friday Mrs. Thomas Chace will entertain at bridge at her home in Evanston. The Evanston Country club is to be the scene of a dinner dance Saturday, April 21, given by Miss Margaret Scott for members of the bridal paty and Monday evening, April 23, Mr. and Mrs, James M. Jud- son of Evanston, father and mother of the bride-elect, will give the bridal dinner at their home following the re- hearsal at the First Baptist church of Evanston. The day of the wedding Mrs. William S. Bennet will give a luncheon for Miss Judson and her bridesmaids. Miss Elinor Woodward of Win- netka, Miss Elisabeth Rice of Wil- mette, sister of the prospective bride- groom, and Mr. and Mrs. Dwight In- gram of Winnetka already have given affairs for Miss Judson and Mr. Rice during the past few weeks. Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Mellor, 1179 Asbury avenue, motored to Knoxville I11, last week to attend the confirma- tion services for their daughtef, Mary Etheline, which were held on Easter Sunday at St. Mary's academy. Mr. and Mrs. Mellor went on to. St. Louis and are expected to return some time next week. Alpha Xi Mothers' Club Plans Its Annual Benefit The Mothers' club of Alpha Xi Delta of Northwestern university is giving its spring bridge as a benefit for the House fund. The date of the affair is Monday, April 16, at 2 o'clock, at the sorority house on the campus. In addition to other prizes, one will be given for each table, and refreshments will be served. Mrs. Norman Hall is chairman for the event. Mrs. B. T. Gibbs is presi- dent of the club and Mrs. Elliott V. Youngberg, social chairman. Miss Polly Barker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles P. Barker, 557 Orchard lane, recently returned to the University of Wisconsin after spend- ing spring vacation with her parents.
