June 2, 1928 WINNETKA TALK 13 Calls Women Voters to Membership Conference Mrs. John N. VanderVries of Win- netka, state membership chairman of the Illinois League of Women Voters, has arranged a Membership confer- ence for June 8, to which all local league presidents and membership chairmen have been invited. The con- ference will be preceded by a luncheon in the Medical and Dental Arts club, 185 North Wabash avenue, Chicago. As part of the program Mrs. Fred- erick Dickinson of Winnetka will read the membership playlet, "A Block Cap- tain's Adventure," written for the Winnetka league by Mrs. Edwin E. Brown. Mrs. Dudley K. French, the new membership chairman of the Win- netka league, Mrs. A. M. Ferry and Mrs. Edwin E. Brown will attend the luncheon. Orders for the Winnetka playlet have recently been received {from Fond du Lac, Wis., Grand Island, Neb., Paris, Ill, Farmington, Conn., Lincoln, Neb., and Cleveland, Ohio. PLAN PICNIC JUNE 3 The annual picnic for the Sabbath school children of the North Shore Congregation Israel will be held Sun- day morning, June 3, at 11 o'clock, at the Skokie school, Glendale and Elm streets, Winnetka. In case of rain the picnic will be postponed to the follow- ing Sunday, June 10. Wesley Smith Carey of 883 Oak street graduated from the Chicago Osteopathic college Thursday evening and is leaving Winnetka in about a week to take his training as an in- terne in Seattle. --0-- Mr. and Mrs. Craig P.
