June 30, 1928 WINNETKA STALK 39 Indians Come Back Residents of north shore towns have been hosts recently to the descendants of tribes who originally peopled. the now fashionable and exclusive Indian Hill club section. Several chieftains cooperating with Benjamin Bills of Bills Realty, Inc. have brought back a touch of old Indian romance and legend to the north shore in real life as they brought it to millions through the film classic "The Vanishing American." ~ Chief Whirling Thunder, whose Eng- lish name is Robinson Johnson, is a Winnebago from Tomah, Wis. The chief was educated in the Tomah high school and special Indian schools. He is an instructor in Culver summer school. Chief Lone Star, a Chippewa, also from Wisconsin, is one of the best Indian dancers in Chicago. Chief Begay, a Navajo from Arizona, is well known as a singer of Navajo songs. Chief Evergreen Tree, a pueblo Indian from New Mexico, has a remarkable gift of imitating the calls of birds and animals. Health Center Continues Service Through Summer Miss Katherine Griffin of the Grosse Point health center, will continue her work during the summer months, ex- cept for a brief vacation in August when she expects to go to Canada. Office hours during the summer at the health center will be from 9 to 10 o'clock each morning from Mon- day to Friday, she has announced. Mr. and Mrs. E. Burt Brown, Jr., and their children, have sold their home in Wilmette and move this week into the house they purchased at 1152 Cherry street. Women Golfers Enter Western Open Tourney Indian Hill, Sunset Ridge, and Wil- mette Golf clubs were represented in the first round of the women's west- ern medal play championship tourna- ment at Hinsdale Monday of this week. At the end of the first round Mrs. H. Austin Pardue, (Dorothy Klotz), tied with Mrs. Lee Mida of Butterfield for the lead. Other players were Mrs. C. A. Klotz and Mrs. C. C.
