July 14, 1928 WINNETKA TALK Big Tract of Land on N.S. Is Leased for a Flying Field The north shore is to have a fly- ing field and airport. This is revealed in the leasing of one hundred thirty acres of land at the corner of Lake avenue and Railroad avenue by a syndicate of north shore and Chicago men headed by C. F. Rob- erts of Winnetka. This aviation field will cater to commercial, passenger and student service. Eighty-five acres of the total was leased from C. D. Rugen, thirty-five from Louis Clavey and the balance from Mrs. Elizabeth Rugen. The con- sideration was not disclosed. The field has frontage of one-half mile on Rail- road avenu eand 2,200 feet on Lake avenue, The necessary grading will be done in the near future and the erection of the hangers will start soon after. The purchase of the equipment will also be made at an early date, as it is the plan of the syndicate to start actual flying as soon as possible. E. C. Gaither Purchases Kenilworth Home-Site R. M. Johnston and company of Linden avenue, Wilmette, report the sale of a lot 75 by 175 feet on Raleigh road, Kenilworth, for William E. Hus- ton to Edward C. Gaither. Mr. Gaith- er is having plans prepared for an attractive residence to be erected in the near future. The consideration was undisclosed. Alfred Dietsch of Rogers Park has purchased a lot 50 by 180 feet on the north side of Maple avenue, half a block from Sheridan road where he will erect a home this summer. E. Sumner Walker represented the buyer and R. M. Johnston and company represented the seller.
