The Chicago Jricklayers, rated as the strongest traveling team in the Chicago Mid- west league, cer- tainly lived up to their reputation, giving the local lads a lesson in some of the finer points of the game The Brickies were strong in every department Clouting the ball was their specialty, although they did not overlook to perform like demons afield. Winnetka outhit the Bricklayers 10 to 9, although "Big Hippo" Young, giant Brickie pitcher kept them well scattered, and did not allow extra base wallops. "Howy" Prange was the only Winnetka athlete to hit for more than one base. His was a home run in the fourth with no one on the footpaths. Next Sunday the Winnetkans will resume play in the New Trier Town- ship Cup race when they engage the fast-stepping Wilmette aggregation at Skokie Playfield. In two previous en- counters between these two teams Winnetka won one by the score of 3 to 2, while Wilmette took the second by a score of 5 to 2. These two games, however, do not count in the cham- pionship struggle. George "Lefty" Mills will be back to twirl for the local club against Wilmette. Mills was away last Sunday on his vacation, and con- sequently, Jack Slattery did the twirl ng. A large crowd of fans is expected to see the Wilmette-Winnetka tilt, for this promises to be a real ball game. The defeat of last Sunday has put added pep into the local athletes. Be- fore the setback of last Sunday Win- netka had acquired a winning streak of six games. The boys are confident, however, that they will resume their winning ways when they meet Wil- mette at the Skokie Playfield tomor- row. Game time is 3 o'clock. "Howy" Prange Thomas Anderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Anderson of 328 Linden avenue, returned Thursday after spend- ing eight weeks at Camp Highlands, Sayner, Wis. There were several other Winnetka boys at the same camp. ---- Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Huff, 945 Elm street, moved this week to their new home at 1377 Asbury avenue which has been completed recently.
