Several months ago the triangular piece of ground lying east of Church road and used as the boys' athletic field was sold for building develop- ment purposes and in its place the school purchased the two acre piece lying south of Willow road and west of Center street and connecting with the large tract which the school pre- viously owned to the south, all of which has been converted into a most magnificent athletic field. Remove Barns and Sheds The barns, sheds and chicken houses have been removed from the two acre piece. Leicester hall this summer was removed from Diller street to the grove just east of Dunlop hall, fronting on Elder lane, where it is being re- modeled again to be used as a home for the teachers. A large dining room and kitchen have been erected on the east hill side with a large open porch above. Only two living trees had to be sacri- ficed to make room for the removal of this house. The old Cook residence at Willow and Forest has also been remodeled and leased to Head Master Perry Dun- lap Smith. Build Retaining Wall The large tract from which Leicester hall was removed and the two acres adjoining on the north comprise the new athletic field. A retaining -wall has been built on the east, the tract graded and leveled, and shrubbery planted on the north and east sides. A combination field house and ga- rage has been erected at the Willow street side, and the remainder of the tract, thoroughly tile drained, con- verted into one full sized football field; one practice football field; one 220- yard straight away cinder track: two full size hockey fields for girls, in ad- dition to providing ample space for jumping pits, shot putting, pole vault- ing and discus and javelin throwing, sand other field and track events.
