hE of prt September 29, 1928 WINNETKA TALK North Shore Theater News Y oung Fairbanks Is Star of Teatro del Lago Film Saturday Alternating between the stage and the screen quite in the manner of his famous parent, Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., featured with Jobyna Ralston in "The Toilers," came on the set fresh from successful appearances as the star of "Young Woodley" and Saturday's Children," in the Los Angeles produc- tions of those Broadway successes. "The Toilers" will be shown at the Teatro del Lago this Saturday, Sep- tember 29. In this picture young Fair- banks has the part of Steve, the young miner whose chance rescue of a little waif begins their beautiful love story among the drab surroundings and tense drama of a coal mining vil- lage. This Sunday at the Teatro del Lago will have the aspect of circus day and the Fourth of July all in one, for "Tillie's Punctured Romance," the tale of a circus and a country girl and a war, all of which are rolled up and shaken up and mixed up with surpris- ing and somewhat stupendous results, will be shown there on that day. W. C. Fields, celebrated stage star, Ches- ter Conklin, and Louise Fazenda are members of the cast. Marion Davies Stars With "Tillie the Toiler" and "The Patsy" still fresh in the public mind, Marion Davies tightens her grip on the title of leading comedienne of the screen with her performance as Sally in "The Cardboard Lover," coming to the Teatro del Lago next Monday for two days. The Cosmopolitan star is funny and appealing in her latest role. The story of the new film is simple. but it provides a suitable framework for a succession of original gags. dramatic situations, and hilarious moments. Harry Langdon and Doris Dawson are co-starred in "Heart Trouble," to be shown at the Teatro del Lago next Wednesday. It is the story of a would-be fighter who never got across the ocean. Madge Hunt, Nelson Mc- Dowell, Mark Hamilton, Joseph Ger- ard, and others are in the cast. "The Michigan Kid," film version of Rex Beach's romantic, exciting novel of Alaska in gold rush days, will be the Teatro del Lago attraction for next Thursday and Friday. It is a thrilling story set in the colorful times of gambling houses, dance halls, and rough men when the gold fever gripped the country. Conrad Nagel enacts the role of a famed gambler and Renee Adoree of a girl from the States. "The Midnight Taxi" Is Granada Film for Week With every character in the picture speaking during the enactment of the climactic moments, "The Midnight Taxi," the feature at the Granada theater beginning this Saturday, Sep- tember 29, raises the suspense to new heights in screen drama, Helene Costello plays the part of a girl who seems candid of purpose but who in reality is on the trail of thieves who have stolen from the bank which employs her. Antonio Moreno comes into the plot by a singular path. When the stars are not speaking, there is sound and musical accompaniment on the vitaphone.
