EVANSTON 'Winnetka Teachers Are Guests of College Folk Teachers of the primary grades in the Winnetka Public schools, together with Supt. Carleton Washburne and the principals of the schools, were guests of the National Kindergarten and Elementary college at 6 o'clock dinner in Evanston Thursday evening. The dinner was an appreciation of the co-operation of the Winnetka schools in permitting students at the kinder- garten college to do observation work and practice teaching in the primary grades here. Discussion of the pro- blems of the student teacher and of the plans of the supervision depart- ment of the kindergarten college for the improvement of student teaching was on the program. AT O. E. SESSION Mrs. Jacob Replogle and Mrs. Fer- dinand Wolter are Winnetka women attending the fifty-fourth annual ses- sion of the grand chapter, Order of Eastern Star, which opened at the Medinah temple Monday, October 1. Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Peterson, 733 Elm street, and Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Lederer of the Park Lane hotel, Chi- cago, are motoring to northern Wis- consin for a hunting trip. They will be gone a month. ---- Mrs. W. F. Thiehoff and Miss Eileen Thiehoff, 1172 Hamptondale road, left Thursday morning to spend three weeks visiting in New York, Philadelphia, and Washington. Play Matches to Determine Champ New Trier Golfer Preliminary matches in the tourna- ment to decide the golf champion at New Trier High school were being played this week. Six freshmen, five sophomores, eight juniors, and six seniors are entered. Following are the entries: Freshmen--Charles Barnett, Tom Smith, John Withrow, Robert Moran, Jack Kelley, and John Kirby. ANNOUNCES DANCE SERIES The Highland Park Social club has announced a series of dances the first one of which will be held on October 6 at Witten's Hall directly across from the Alcyon theatre in Highland Park. Music will be by Russ Lundquist and his band. These dances were held last year and were successful. Curtis C. Tatham, 349 Hawthorn lane, is a member of the freshman class at the University of Rochester, which recently opened its seventy- ninth year with the largest freshman class in the history of the university.
