54 WINNETKA TALK November 10, 1928 TO ADDRESS GARDEN CLUB The Garden Club of Illinois is hold- ing an all-day meeting Wednesday, November 14, in the Bal Tabarin room of the Hotel Sherman. At 11:15 in the morning and at 2:30 in the afternoon Dudley Crafts Watson will lecture. His first topic will be "The Loveliest Gardens I Have Seen," which he will illustrate with stereopti- con views. His second lecture will be a chalk talk on "Color in the Garden." IN CHARITY BAZAAR PLANS The Edgewater branch of the Infant Welfare society has arranged a bazaar and food sale for November 13, in the north room of the Edgewater Beach hotel. This charity event will be opén from 10 o'clock in the morning until 10 o'clock that night. Mrs. A. S. Ben- son of 201 Franklin road, Glencoe, is among the north shore persons inter- ested in this event. North Shore Girls Star in Athletics at Smith Among the girls from the north shore who are active and prominent in athletics at Smith college this year is Miss Frances Ranney of Winnetka who has been elected to be the man- ager of the senior hockey team. Miss Dorothy Dickinson, Miss Helen Brown and Miss Elizabeth Babcock are other Winnetka girls interested in hockey. Miss Dickinson is captain of the junior team and the other two are members of the same team. Miss Frances Mc- Connell of Wilmette and Miss Inge- borg Lincoln of Glencoe have made the freshman team. Mr. and Mrs. Sturevant Hinman (Elizabeth Webster) have returned from their honeymoon and are staying, temporarily, at the Orrington. hotel in Evanston until their home in North- brook is completed. Reinhold Miss Beatrice Isabel Pence became the bride of James Packard Reinhold at 8:30 o'clock last Saturday night in the Winnetka Congregational church. Mrs. Reinhold is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Harrison Pence of Wilmette, and Mr. Reinhold is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William C. Reinhold, also of Wilmette. Mrs. Reinhold was gowned in ivory satin, a sleeveless dress, and an ivory veil held with a lace cap and orange blossoms. Her bouquet was of yellow roses and valley lilies. The attendants' dresses followed the chrysanthemum color scheme. The maid of honor, Miss Marjorie Pence, wore a dress of shades of brown and the bridesmaids, Miss Betty Jane Pence, Miss Lydia Sprenger of Kenilworth, and Mrs. Ed- win S. Robinson, formerly Miss Leah Kinne of Wilmette, wore yellow gowns. Mrs. Pence was dressed in green and the flower girl, Betty Murray, was at- tired in lavender. The ringbearer, Ross Murray, wore black velvet and white satin. The two children are cou- sins of the bride and the son and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Mur- ray of Glencoe. The best man was Ralph English of Wilmette and the ushers were Robert F. Pence, Lindley Servis, Frank Mill- ington, and Edwin A. Robson. 3 The church was decorated with chrysanthemums in yellows, browns, and lavenders. The altar was graced with palms and smilax flanked Mrs. John F. Weedon Is Garden Club Head Mrs. John F. Weedon of Wil- mette was elected president of the Wilmette Garden club at a meeting last Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Royal C. Dickson in Evanston. The other new officers for 1929 were: Mrs. J. Benton Schaub of Wil- mette, vice-president; Mrs. Charles Van Deursen of Deerfield, recording secretary; Mrs, O. A. Sontag of Ev- anston, corresponding secretary; and Mrs. James S. Moore of Evanston, treasurer. Friday afternoon, November 16, the club will go to the chrysanthemum show at the Hotel Stevens. This trip will be preceded by a luncheon at the Orrington hotel. Mrs. Hope Thomp- son will be hostess at the next meet- ing of the club on December 7, at her home, 1119 Ashland avenue. The meet- ing will be held in the evening and will be guest night. Margot Hedman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Hedman of 115 Fuller lane, invited twenty-four of her little friends to a supper party at her home Friday, November 2. The affair was given in celebration of her seventh birthday. by baskets lighted tapers.
