Pair- ings for the twenty members of the club taking part in the tournament were announced this week as follows: Richard Gage vs. Ralph Dillon, Olin Sethness vs. Earl Lingle, John Erick- son vs. Joe Stixrud, Richard Nichales vs. Kurman, Bob Livingston vs. Rich- ard Older, Lowell Comee vs. Ralph Horsting, John Warren vs. Albert Denton, Dick Longini vs. Jim Alsdorf, Dick Barnard vs. Schilbach, and Solon Reiley vs. Fred Schmidt. These debates will be judged by members of the club. The club meets each Friday during the school year. Its program for the year includes sev- eral short talks on debate strategy by Chester E. MacLean, New Trier debate coach, and speeches by several out- siders. Among these speakers are: Miss Gertrude Baylis, on a year's leave of absence from China, who will talk on the legal system in that coun- try, and Dr. Clark from Korea. One of the chief purposes of having outside speakers for the club, according to Debate Coach Maclean, is to provide speech material and theme subjects for the members.
