oH December 1, 1928 WINNETKA TALK 2 wn SANTA WILL BRING GIFT TO HOUSEHOLD Custom of Giving Something a| Little Practical With the Frivolous Growing Jingle Bells. Jingle Bells! not so long now until the radio will tell us that Santa is approaching by reindeer. It is difficult to pick out what one will give the family, so the nice custom of giving somthing to the houses which everyone can enjoy is growing. A new acquisition to the list of household utilities not in the possession of every- one is the little electric motor for the kitchen. All sorts of attachments may be purchased for this motor as well as attractive cabinets im which to store the equipment. when the cook has this first assistant, it is not necessary for the housekeeper to worry about the frequent calls for hot breads, the large number of guests coming for the week- end, or the other demands of a large or small family. The new card tables and folding chairs are a joy to the person who oc- casionally needs an extra work table as well as the bridge lover. The tables are steady and excellent to work on because of this stability. Among the little things brother and sister can give to the house is a canvas wood carrier for the open fire place, a special fruit juice squeezer, or a luggage stand for the guest room. The lazy man might buy himself a present of an automatic window closer which acts like an alarm clock. Bath towel sets, a mat, six face cloths, and a bath towel all monogram- ed with two or three initials make a fine present as does one of the spongy rubber mats with decorative flowers in other colors. A new shower curtain in the right colors might furbish the bath with a Christmas air. The closet might get a Christmas present of a shoe and hosiery box all dressed up in the latest colors. Madame knows now how to take care of these small closets and how to make the most of them. Two articles find space where but one was before. FINAL FREE MOVIES The last of the autumn series of free moving pictures for children given under the auspices of the James Nel- son and Anna Louise Raymond Divis- ion of Field Museum, will be shown this Saturday in the James Simpson theatre of the museum from 10 o'clock until noon. Five films will be shown --"The Rhine Valley," "Growing Things," "Fruits and Flowers," "Bird Sanctuary," and "Monarch of the Glen." Children from all parts of Chicago and suburbs are invited. A CORRECTION In a story appearing in last week's issue of WINNETKA TALK concerning the election of freshman class officers at New Trier High school Harry Her- ron was mentioned as faculty sponsor of the class. Miss Ella Shaw is also a freshman advisor. CONVALESCES AT HOME Miss Alola Bridges, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert F. Bridges, 1015 Oak street, is convalescing at her home after a serious illness. While visiting at a cottage on Lake Erie this summer she was taken ill with spinal menin- gitis and has been confined to a hos- pital eight weeks in a very serious condition. CELEBRATES BIRTHDAY ..
