Is Host to Church Choir at Dinner and Club Concert By Critic Thomas Ratcliffe, 804 Lincoln ave- nue, entertained the choir of the Winnetka Congregational church Tuesday evening at dinner at the Ham- ilton club, taking his guests later in the evening to the annual concert given by the club chorus of 150 voices. The voices, highly trained, produced a rich, harmonic texture of ever- changing depth and color. The volume of the voice is so great that only per- fect drill in rhythm prevents it from becoming a mere roar. Years of careful training have made of this club's sing- ing, a thing to be anticipated and then remembered with joy. The final number, an old Scotch bal- lad, "The Hundred Pipes," called up the picture of a column of tartan clad Highlanders filing to battle through a foggy pass, shouting out the battle song as they marched. They sang magnificently. Harry Walsh is conductor and is also conductor and leader of the Winnetka church choir and quartet. entire INCORPORATED FOVNIAIN SQVARE - EVANSTON AH ULLRICH Pw Wilmette 3700 doing?
