Knudsen, president and gen- eral manager of Chevrolet Motor Company, reputed one of the most conservative executives in the indus- try, predicts that Chevrolet production schedules for the coming year will call for an output which will equal at least 1,250,000 cars and trucks. Fif- teen factories throughout the country, according to Knudsen, are now work- ing at top speed building the new six. Cars are being distributed to the dealer organization as fast as they come off the line, so that as many as possible will be on display and ready for delivery December 29. } Mr. Knudsen's optimism over the forthcoming year, he explained, has its basis in continued prosperity and in what he interprets as a well de- fined preference on the part of the public for the six cylinder car. Marmon Announces New "Roosevelt" to Sell Below $1,000 This story is written for the purpose of introducing a new addition to the motor industry. It is announced that the Marmon Motor Company of In- dianapolis is to bring out a new car early in the spring which is to sell below $1,000. The new car will be known as the Roosevelt, the name having been chosen from several thousand others because of its instant importance to the public and the American ideals for which it stands. The Roosevelt will be in addition to the present Marmon line of straight eights. Ford Is Planning to Build 1,800,000 Cars, Trucks in '29 The Ford company is planning on a production of 1,800,000 cars and trucks for the home and Canadian markets, plus another 300,000 units turned out by assembly plants in foreign lands, ac- cording to D. W. Leonard of the Sko- kie Motor company of Wilmette, North Shore Ford dealer. The daily production of the organization is now closely approaching 6,500 units, and during the first year of manufacturing the new model A 704,000 cars and trucks were turned out. This means that the Ford and Chev- rolet companies between them in 1929 will give the world considerably over 3,000,000 motor vehicles for its plea- sure and efficiency. The figure 1s so stupendous that it will even astonish Americans, used as they are to huge quantities in the field of manufacture. The Ford Motor company of Can- ada, Ltd., believes 1929 will be the greatest year in Canadian automotive history. This organization, is sche- duled to produce 140,000 cars, which is 33,000 more than any previous yearly record. In totals covering all of the states as well as the District of Columbia which for registration purposes serves as a state by itself, the Model A Ford car during September led all other makes of cars in deliveries, as indi- cated by the sum of the official regis- trations.
