- Cpl. Bowhey, R.D.
  Ray enlisted in the R.C.A.F. on January 6, 1942 and took a six months Radio Technician's course at the Central Technical School in Toronto. The latter part of June 1942, he commenced his basic training at Manning Depot. After three months he was posted to Clinton to finish his course and remained there until December 10th, 1942 when he was moved to Bagotville, Quebec for service. After a year in Quebec he was sent to St. John, New Brunswick, (December 10th, 1943). In four months’ time, he volunteered for Overseas and landed in England the last of May, 1944.
Cpl. Bowhey, R. D. arrived in Halifax on January 2nd, 1946, on the troopship “Mauretania” after Overseas service. - Notes
- This card is part of a larger collection of World War II personnel clippings. The project began in 1944 at the Lindsay Library. The intent was to gather together as much information as possible on the military record and the service of people from the Town of Lindsay and the County of Victoria (now Kawartha Lakes) who served in the war. To that end, during the years 1944, 1945, and 1946, members of the public donated photographs and updated information about their loved ones. Both library staff and the public saved and donated newspaper clippings. Some of the files contain great amounts of detail, while others have just a name.
