Jack Cain Leads RCAF's Leeming Station to Championship Laurels</i></b></center> <br> WITH THE RCAF BOMBER GROUP OVERSEAS: Sept. 10, (Delayed): In a close-fought, five-game final RCAF station Leeming beat out RCAF station Bournemouth for the RCAF Overseas volleyball championship recently, 3-2. Game scores ran: 15-11; 14-16; 9-15; 15-10; and 16-14. <br><br>A self-styled <q>team from across the tracks</q>, Leeming's men battled their way to the finals of the round robin tourney after defeating other entries from Wombleton station, RCAF stations on the continent, and two RCAF holding units at Calveley and Tempsford, despite the fact that their star player, Jack Sims, of Hamilton, Ontario, had been posted home to Canada the day before the tournament started. <br><br>Without a coach, without a manager and lacking even uniforms, Leeming had the sympathy of the crowd all the way, but Bournemouth's ace "spiker"-- Bob Stevenson, of Kitchener, Ontario, (24 Chapel St.)-- turned in a sparkling performance that made him everybody's favourite. <br><br> In the semi-finals, Bournemouth beat the Continent team, 15-1; 11-15; 15-11, while Leeming downed Wombleton, 5-15; 15-5; 15-8: Wombleton had tough luck on the opening day of the tournament when their captain, YMCA Supervisor Clayton Batson, of Brantford, Ontario, (274 Murray St.), suffered a severe ankle sprain. Short of substitutes, he insisted on playing right through every game, but never reached his starry best. <br><br> The Leeming line-up was: LAC A.G. Pike, Winnipeg, (1153 Strathcona St.), Cpl.
